2025 නොවැම්බර් මස 24 දින මාකුඹුර බහුවිධ මඟී ප්‍රවාහන පර්‍යන්තයේදී ඩිජිටල් ආර්ථික අමාත්‍යාංශයේ උපදේශකත්වයෙන් , ප්‍රවාහන අමාත්‍යංශය මඟින් දියත් කරන ලද බස් රථ ගාස්තු බැංකු කාඩ්පත් භාවිතයෙන් ඩිජිටල් ලෙස ගෙවීමේ නියමු ව්‍යාපෘතියේ සාර්ථකව ඇරඹීය. මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය ඩිජිටල් ආර්ථික අමාත්‍යාංශය යටතේ ක්‍රියාත්මක වන රජයේ ඩිජිටල්කරණ වැඩ පිලිවෙලේ පුළුල් ව්‍යාපෘතියක් වන අතර එය සමස්ත මගී ප්‍රවාහන ක්ෂේත්‍රය නවීකරණය කිරීමේ අරමුණින් ආරම්භ කෙරේ.
මෙම ඩිජිටල් ගෙවීමේ ක්‍රමවේදය මඟින් මූලික වශයෙන් බස් රථ මගීන්ට මුදල් ගනුදෙනු වලදී ඇතිවන ඉතිරි සල්ලි ප්‍රශ්නයට විසඳුම් ලැබෙන අතර බස් රථ හිමියාගේ පාර්ශවයෙන් බස් රථයේ සිදුවන සියලුම ගනුදෙනු පිළිබඳ නිවැරදි තොරතුරු ක්ෂණිකව ලබාගත හැක. එමෙන්ම, මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය තුළින් මගීන්ට වඩා හොඳ අත්දැකීමක් ඉදිරියේදී ලබා දීමට කටයුතු යොදා ඇත. ඒ යටතේ දුර සේවා ගමන් සඳහා ආසන වෙන්කරවා ගැනීමේ පහසුකම, වාර සේවා සහ පාස්පත් සඳහා වෙනම බැංකු කාඩ්පත් පතක් හඳුන්වා දීම, සහ බැංකු කාඩ්පත සමඟ QR කේතය භාවිතයෙන් බස් ගාස්තු ගෙවීමේ හැකියාව වැනි පහසුකම් ද ඇතුළත් වේ.
මෙම නියමු ව්‍යාපෘතිය ආරම්භ කිරීමෙන් අනතුරුව, ඉදිරියේදී රටේ ඇති සියලුම පෞද්ගලික සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකා ගමනාගමන මණ්ඩලයේ බස් රථ මෙම ඩිජිටල් ක්‍රමවේදය තුළට එක් කර ගනු ඇත. එමෙන්ම, මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය හරහා බස් රථවල ගමන් කරන මගීන් පිළිබඳ දත්ත විශාල ප්‍රමාණයක් ලැබෙනු ඇත. මේ වන තෙක් බස් රථ සේවාවන් සඳහා කිසිදු දත්තයක් නොමැතිව කටයුතු කළද, ඉදිරියේදී එම දත්ත ප්‍රවාහන සේවාවේ කාලසටහන් සකස් කිරීමට, කාර්යාල වේලාවන්හිදී සහ උත්සව සමයන්හිදී බස් රථ වැඩිපුර යෙදවීමට මෙන්ම වෙනත් තීරණ ගැනීම් සඳහා අදාළ බලධාරීන්ට, ජාතික ප්‍රවාහන කොමිෂන් සභාවට, මාර්ගස්ථ මගී ප්‍රවාහන අධිකාරී සහ ප්‍රවාහන අමාත්‍යාංශයට භාවිතා කළ හැකි වේ.
'Bus fare digital payments' project launches innovative digital solutions for bus owners and passengers.
The Makumbura Multipleway Transportation Terminal on 24th November 2025, under the mentorship of the Ministry of Digital Finance, the bus fees launched by the Ministry of Transportation successfully launched the pilot project to pay digitally using bank cards launched by the Ministry of Transportation. The project is a comprehensive project in the government's digitalization work operating under the Ministry of Digital Economy, aimed at revamping the entire passenger transport sector.
This digital payment technique will primarily help bus passengers get accurate information about all transactions happening on the bus on the side of the bus owner. Also, through this project, work has been deployed to provide a better experience ahead for passengers. It also includes facilities such as booking seat for distance service travels, introduction of separate bank card for term services and passes, and the ability to pay bus fees using QR code along with bank card.
Following the launch of this pilot project, all private and Sri Lankan travel board buses in the future will be added into this digital technique. Also, through this project, there will be a lot of data about passengers traveling by buses. Although there was no data for bus services so far, the data has been supposed to arrange schedules of transport service, deploy more buses during office hours and festive seasons as well as other decisions, to the National Transport Commission, Road Passenger Transport Authority and Transportation The ministry can use.
